Esperanza, a participatory hip-hop ball
U

An evening infused with energy and togetherness, combining the breathtaking acrobatics of Prélude Out with the electrifying atmosphere of the hip-hop ball Esperanza.
Imagined by Kader Attou, Esperanza transforms the stage into a true festive dancefloor, inspired by the legendary Soul Train. For over an hour, dancer and DJ Jikay set Malakoff ablaze to the sounds of funk, soul, and hip-hop, joined by the company’s performers.
Guided by amateur dancers, the audience took to the floor, leading up to the iconic Soul Train Line — the highlight of the evening, where everyone paraded down the middle to the cheers of the crowd.
A big thank you to Malakoff Scène nationale and to all participants for this memorable season opening!

Hip-Hop Night at Châteauvallon

A highlight in the heart of summer

On July 18, 2025, Châteauvallon — celebrating its 60th anniversary — became a true epicenter of hip-hop for one night, with an evening orchestrated by Kader Attou and Compagnie Accrorap. The audience experienced an intense and festive journey, blending artistic performances with powerful choreographic moments.
Premier Round opened the evening on a symbolic boxing ring, intertwining the words of Mathieu Létuvé and the dance of Accrorap’s performers in a raw and poetic energy. Later, Second Round ignited the open-air amphitheater with pieces from the repertoire, guest solos, and new creations. Around these highlights, DJ sets, beatboxing, graffiti, and mandala art extended the celebration — true to the multifaceted spirit of this culture.
Warmly received, Hip-Hop Night celebrated a dance that has become universal — a dance of memory, sharing, and collective strength.

The Night of the Ring

Artistic direction: Kader Attou

Imagined by the artist-in-residence on the shores of the Étang de l’Olivier in Istres, this first edition of The Night of the Ring featured unusual battles between hip-hop dancers and athletes.

The teams faced off in head-to-head duels, hosted by a professional boxing announcer and judged by a panel of guest artists. A real championship, with quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, where sport and dance met and intertwined to become one.
